Women Behind Enemy Lines: literary lunch with Sonia Purnell & Sarah Helm

The Charity was proud to be associated with the Richmond Literary Lunch, the Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club on Tuesday, 24th September 2019.

This was a top-quality occasion with two acclaimed SOE writers. Sonia Purnell's biography of the American SOE/OSS agent Virginia Hall was published earlier this year, while Sarah Helm's acclaimed Vera Atkins biography has long been a 'must read' for anyone with an interest in SOE's French Section.

On behalf of the Charity, the event was attended by several Trustees and Friends including Louisa Russell, Carol Brown, Ann Palmer, Ray Windmill, Joy Hanauer, Carol Yeats and Ian Titman.

The lunch, talks and discussion session were followed by a screening of Charlotte Gray, the feature film based on Sebastian Faulks' WW2 novel of the same name about a fictional female SOE agent operating in occupied France.
