SOE tribute at Hampshire war memorial

During Remembrance Sunday events today, and at another tomorrow, tributes at SOE and other ceremonies are being paid by Charity members. Chair Louisa Russell marched down The Mall in London this morning, this year as part of the representative contingent from the Gallipoli and Dardanelles International; while Information Officer Carol Brown, together with Friends and Supporters Mark Brown, Ian Titman, Guy Audibert and Eddie Jones will be on parade tomorrow, the 11th, at the Free French ceremony at Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey at 11 am - click HERE for more details. Also at Brookwood tomorrow, Carol will also be placing Christian, Jewish and Muslim poppy emblems on its Memorial to the Missing 1939-45, where many SOE agents with no known grave are commemorated. This morning in Hampshire, Trustee Paul McCue placed a small wreath on behalf of the Charity on the war memorial at Liss, commemorating those who served at the SOE training school "STS 3" at Stodham Park, Liss from 1941-44. Paul is currently researching Stodham Park, and believes today was "the first time this SOE training establishment has been formally remembered on Remembrance Sunday - despite it having trained agents such as Joachim Ronneberg of the famed OPERATION GUNNERSIDE against the German's heavy water plant in Norway." We would be pleased to hear of any other SOE-specific acts of remembrance. You can email the Charity at: info.sww2@gmail.com
